Add Insulation to Your Metal Garage

Add Insulation to Your Metal Garage

Metal garages and carports offer many benefits for storage and parking, but it’s important to consider adding insulation to your metal building. Insulation has many benefits, and it may be worthwhile to add insulation to your metal garage.

The Many Benefits of Insulation

Let’s take a moment here to talk about some of the many advantages that you will enjoy by having insulation added to your metal garage – either as a retroactive project or when it is newly constructed. When you work with American Steel Carports, Inc., we insulate your metal garage when it is built, delivering you all of the benefits listed below from day one. That way, you get the performance you deserve from the start and you don’t have to worry about going back later to deal with this project.

Comfortable Working Conditions

If this garage will be used as a workshop, you’ll want it to be insulated simply to make it more comfortable throughout the year. High heat in the summer or freezing temperatures in the winter could make the space unbearable without insulation. This layer of protection will take the edge off and make things more manageable.

Cut Down on Condensation

A metal garage with no insulation is prone to condensation, which can be frustrating to deal with and could lead to rust problems. Using insulation to reduce the heat transfer between the inside and outside of the building will make condensation far less likely, so the inside of your garage can stay nice and dry.

Better storage environment

It’s common to use a metal garage for storage needs, but extreme temperatures could be harmful to some of the things you want to store in the space. Yet again, having quality insulation in place will solve this problem.

Installing Insulation Later

If you already own a metal garage and it does not have insulation, it’s possible to install your own or have it installed by a professional. We should note that taking on this project will void any remaining warranty coverage that may be in place on the structure, so consider your situation before proceeding. Also, if the side panels of the garage happen to run horizontally, rather than vertically, it may not be possible to install some types of third-party insulation.

There are many different types of insulation you can pick from when doing this work on an existing metal structure. Some of those types, like standard blanket insulation, are relatively easy to install in most cases. If you are planning to take this on as a DIY project, looking to standard blanket insulation is likely a good choice.

On the other hand, spray foam insulation can also perform well in this setting, but you’ll want to have that work done by a professional with the right experience and equipment.

Trust Our Experience to Deliver

It’s not hard to find someone to sell you a metal garage. It is hard, however, to find a company with many years of experience and a strong track record of delivering for its customers. That’s what you’ll get here at American Steel Carports, Inc.

When you are ready to get started with a new garage or carport project, feel free to use our Build & Price. You can design your carport or garage and add any features you want. If any questions or want to learn more, feel free to contact us. We look forward to serving you!
