Summer is Coming: Get Your Pool Area Ready

March 12, 2019/in ASI, Blog, Informative, Lifestyle, News/Press, Questions /by clickgiant

Winter is finally on its way out, and we can hear Spring knocking. WThat means Summer will be here before you know it. Summer means something different to everyone, but one common denominator is the pool. It’s a meeting place and retreat from the cruel summer heat… The pool can be perfect for relaxing and stirring up laughter. It’s a great setting for a neighborhood celebration, birthdays, team parties, keeping the kids entertained, or gathering the adults for some grown-up conversation.

Now that we have the fun out of the way, let’s get down to business. There’s a lot that goes into the upkeep of a pool. There are all the tools needed for maintenance and repair, as well as chemicals, and the toy collection you have amassed.

We have the perfect idea for a pool house to keep the pool area more organized as well as the yard clean from party debris.

Our buildings work perfectly for smaller yards that still need the access and organization that a pool house brings. American Steel Carport buildings are completely customizable to fit any size needs. Since most pool houses can be wide open with a small room for changing, our open floor plan works perfectly.

Whether you need your pool house to be big enough to add a bar and host company, or you just want something to store tools, supplies, and toys, we can take care of you.

We’ve also mentioned in a previous blog that our carport cover is perfect for pool covers. They provide protection from leaves and other debris, as well as shade for those who want the heat but not the direct sunlight.  They also make it easy to swim during summer rain, which is great for people who depend on the pool for daily exercise or rehabilitation.

We would love to talk to you about your new pool house or pool cover! Feel free to call us at 866-730-9865 or online at Americansteelinc.com.

New Tariff on Steel

August 20, 2018/in ASI, Blog, News, News/Press /by clickgiant

It looks like the price of steel will be going up more and more here in the United States within the next few months. As such, we highly suggest that you purchase your metal carport or building prior to the tariff on steel imports goes into effect. Due to this nationwide increase in the cost of steel, we and many other carport companies will be increasing the prices of most of our buildings.
On March 8th, 2018, in hopes of reviving our domestic steel industry by opening closed mills and reducing the need to rely on foreign producers of steel products, President Trump signed Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act to impose a 25% tariff on steel imports from all countries except Mexico and Canada. According to the president, this new tariff will also provide a form of national security.

Although our company makes it a mission to purchase all American-made materials, we will still feel the strain of steel prices increasing. American Steel Carports, Inc. and American Carports, Inc. will work hard to keep our prices as low as possible while still providing the best in steel carports and buildings nationwide. We still suggest placing your orders within the next few months to ensure that you receive the lowest price possible. Remember that we have an excellent sales team who will work with you to design the perfect metal building for your needs. Give us a call and ask to speak with one of our representatives, and don’t forget that we offer financing.

Installer Crews

August 9, 2018/in ASI, Blog, News/Press, Questions /by clickgiant

Do you need a hands-on job with great pay? American Steel Carports, Inc. is always looking for subcontractors who are skilled in the installation of metal carports and buildings. We refer to our installation crews simply as “Installers” and immediately consider them to be part of the ASC family!

Although our Installers receive great pay, experience, travel, and a secure job, there are several reasons why we have a shortage of knowledgeable and capable crews. Carport and metal building installation requires individuals who are able to work in extreme weather conditions and are also willing to travel and work away from home for long periods of time. As a subcontractor, you would have to provide your own vehicles, tools, and lodging and work on a commission basis. This field of work requires crews of at least 2-3 individuals and is considered dangerous due to sharp objects, high altitudes, etc. This work environment is fast-paced and requires a high and meticulous level of skill as well as excellent time management abilities. You must be able to pay attention to detail and solve problems on site. Additionally, you are the face of our company, so we expect great on-site customer service and communication skills. You must be able to deal with not only our satisfied customers, but also the unhappy ones. With this job comes great responsibility. You are the one in charge of making sure that you, your crew, and the company look their best! Customers tend to remember installer crews, often calling us to commend the great job they did.

Many have tried, but not many succeed. Remember, there is work, just not enough people willing to take the initiative. Not just anyone is cut out for this job, which is why we HIGHLY value the crews we currently have.

If you are interested and think you and your crew have the necessary set of skills, give us a call today at (866) 730-9865 or visit one of the following ASC shops:

Leg Heights

August 2, 2018/in ASI, Blog, News/Press, Questions /by clickgiant

Determining a height:

It’s not always easy to determine the leg height needed for your metal building. The following information will help you decide the best size for your needs.

When determining a height, we highly suggest that you measure the size of the vehicles or machinery that you plan to store in your unit. The measurements of all American Steel Carports metal buildings are based on the side leg height of a unit, which in turn makes the center peak higher at a standard 3/12 pitch. Center peak heights will vary based on the roof style, width, and leg height of a unit. We could suggest a leg height for you, but that does not make us liable if your vehicles or belongings do not fit. Keep in mind that we offer leg heights of up to 20’ high. Never hesitate to contact us or a local dealer to get more in-depth information regarding the heights of our units.

The following diagrams will depict examples of standard “side” leg heights for standard-sized vehicles:

1-Car/Truck Carport with Standard Roof

12’ Wide x 21’ Long x 7’ High (Center Peak: 8’ 9”)

2-Car/Truck Carport with A-Frame Roof

20’ Wide x 21’ Long x 8’ High (Center Peak: 10’ 9”)

3-Car/Truck Carport with A-Frame Roof

30’ Wide x 21’ Long x 9’ High (Center Peak: 13’)

Labor & Equipment Fees:

July 10, 2018/in ASI, Blog, News/Press, Questions /by clickgiant

No one likes additional charges after a purchase is made. So American Steel Carports wants to make sure all concerns are made aware before the day of installation. There are many different reasons why there could be an added labor or equipment fee when installing your carport or metal building and, in some cases, both. The following is a list of a few reasons why there could be added fees:

– Installing on unlevel sites & if installer agrees to take the job (labor fee)

– Installing over objects like RV’s, Mobile Homes, Boats, Tanks, etc. (labor fee)

– Having to adjust leg height on site per customer error (labor fee)

– Any onsite modifications or ground work not listed prior to installation (labor or equipment fee)

– Installing buildings over 30’ wide (equipment fee)

– Leg heights over 12’ (labor or equipment fee)

– Hexagon buildings of various widths and heights (labor or equipment fee)

– Installers needing to carry material more than 50’ for installation (labor fee)

– Installing on a deck (after approval) (labor fee)

To assure the correct fees are applied to your order, contact your local dealer or contact us at 866-730-9865 (877-550-1250)

Warranties That Make The Grade

June 26, 2018/in ASI, Blog, News/Press /by clickgiant

Have you ever heard those scary stories from a neighbor or friend about a carport structure collapsing or even completely blowing away? This sure can be intimidating. There are many ways, however, for you to protect your structure and ensure that it is “built to last.”

American Steel Carports certifies all of its steel structures and offers a one-year, four-season workmanship warranty* on your steel buildings. Unbelievably, that is just the standard warranty. Pretty great, huh? Our engineers have a plan in place to certify all of your building needs. From basic carports to our triple-wide steel warehouses, be assured that we can offer you the best warranties available and assist you with any information that you need.

Did you know that, when you upgrade your building’s frame from our standard 2.5”, 14-gauge galvanized steel to our 2¼”, 12-gauge steel material, your one-year standard warranty will be combined with a 20-year limited warranty** on frame rusting? That sounds expensive, you say. American Steel, however, offers its customers the best of the best at a price that still meets most budgets. Our 12-gauge price options vary depending on the unit’s size and, in most cases, are very similar in cost. Be sure to compare the differences when placing your order.

Do you get a lot of snow? No worries—American Steel has you covered. For heavier snow-load capacities, customers can purchase additional truss and bracing. You also have the ability to choose from a variety of roof options, such as the A-frame vertical or the A-frame horizontal. Our engineers know just what it takes to ensure that your unit has the proper snow load to meet your city code.

They don’t call Chicago the windy city for nothing. For those customers who live in high-wind areas, American Steel offers several anchoring options, including (but not limited to) mobile home, asphalt, and cement anchors. No matter where you are located, be sure to ask about our 90 mph wind warranty.*** Our sales team will help you to determine which type of anchoring system you need. Is your area not very windy at all? Still, you don’t want to be blown away! American Steel will hold it down, as all of our units come with our standard rebar anchors at no additional charge.

Needless to say, American Steel Carports makes the grade, scoring 100% when it comes to offering its customers the quality and protection that they deserve. Be sure to explore all of your warranty options with one of our educated sales reps. At American Steel, your visions are unbounded and will surely be “built to last.”

Check our Features Page for more information on our Warranties

Insulation: What you Need to Know

June 19, 2018/in ASI, Blog, News/Press, Questions /by clickgiant

Are you planning to get a metal building in the future? Have you considered insulating it? Perhaps insulation doesn’t seem like a huge deal for you, but it’s the best choice for those who want to keep their valuables at room temperature. American Steel Carports offers insulation for your metal building that provides your metal unit with thermal, radiation, and vapor barriers; combining these benefits means that that you will have a cool, dry structure in the summer and a warm, dry structure in the winter.

However, there are some things that you might need to know before opting to insulate your metal building. Our insulation:

• Has an R-Value of 16.

• Offers radiation and vapor barriers.

• Is great for heat, condensation, and cold.

• Comes with reflective aluminum foil on each side of a 5mm closed-cell polyethylene foam center.

Our insulation is ICC-ES recognized and Energy Star-qualified due to the following characteristics:

• It has a classification A for fire retardant, slow flame propagation material.

• It doesn’t leak when fastened.

• It’s waterproof. It has two aluminum faces that reflect radiation and heat.

• It offers thermal insulation.

• It retains its thickness over time.

Restrictions: Insulation can only be applied on buildings with Vertical siding; even if you only want to insulate the roof of your metal structure, it must be an A-Frame Vertical roof.

You might be wondering why insulation can only be added to vertical buildings. The simple answer is that the extra material used on vertical sides helps to support the insulation, preventing it from coming down or getting saggy. Horizontal siding or roofs wouldn’t be able to hold the insulation correctly due to the lack of material.

Now you’ve learned about our insulation and all the benefits we offer. If you’re definitely sure about getting a metal building with insulation, give us a call! Let one of our experts help you create that metal building of your dreams. And don’t forget to ask about what financing options are available for you.

A Simple Design is Enough for Protection

May 23, 2018/in ASI, Blog, Customer Builds, News/Press, Product Reviews, Steel Structures /by clickgiant

It’s crazy to think that May is coming to an end and summer is just around the corner. With the increasing temperatures, though, it’s obvious that the heat will stick with us for some time. This means that we need to keep our belongings protected from the blazing sun.

Our company offers numerous designs and colors for you to choose from. However, that doesn’t mean that a simple design won’t protect your belongings from mother nature. Standard roofs are one of the most economical options that we offer, since the roof is included in the base price. For folks living in areas that rarely get snow, this roof style might be perfect. Take a look at this 18’W x 36’L x 11’H metal building:

• Standard Roof
• 36×72 Walk-In Door (side)
• 10×10 Roll-Up Door (front end)

This metal building can be used as a storage room, a garage, or even a workshop, and the combination of the barn red and white colors gives it a very unique look.

You can order yours today! All you need to do is give us a call, and one of our experts will help you place your order! Want to see our buildings in person? Call us now and ask for your local dealer! And don’t forget to ask about our financing options.
