Amazing Metal Buildings Come from Amazing Ideas.

Most of our designs come from our customers’ most valuable ideas—the ideas that complement the very idea of what a metal building is. Customization helps us implement these ideas.

When it comes to customized metal buildings, our clients’ biggest fear is that our units won’t withstand harsh weather. To verify your specific local wind rates, you’ll have to contact your city’s building department. But the main protection we offer is the addition of anchors. We do offer rebar anchors (temporary anchors) for free, although they don’t come with any guarantee. Much better are our asphalt and concrete mobile home anchors, which have a warranty for winds of up to 90 mph.

What happens if the winds are stronger?

If the winds are stronger, we start by adding more trusses. In some cases, we add bigger peak and corner braces.

American Steel Carports does not do any concrete work, but we do offer our customers recommendations for concrete foundations. This a good example of one of our customers in Portales, New Mexico:

Simple, Small, but Resistant

At American Steel Carports, we want our buildings to meet all your needs and expectations. We can accommodate your specific requirements, especially when it comes to building permits. We can add as much material as it takes to get the unit fully protected and certified to the requirements of the city.

It is important that you talk to your local building department to verify all the state codes, because not all states or even cities within a state have the same ones.

 

 

What if you need extra spacing on the sides?

 

Our buildings come with specific numbers of legs to withstand the wind and other elements. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing we can do to customize to your needs. Here is a notable example of a carport for a customer who decided to add two headers to the sides for extra spacing or to park a small vehicle:

 

• 10’W x 21’L x 8’H

• 12-Gauge galvanized tubing

• A-Frame Vertical Roof (Earth Brown)

• 2 – 9′ Header (one on each side)

• Concrete Anchors (90-mph wind warranty)

 

 

The outcome was beautiful, and the colors matched the house and the environment. Please be aware that headers will reduce the side opening height by approximately 6″ – 24″ depending on state codes and length of the header. We will have to reinforce the structure with extra material in order to provide durability.

American Steel Carports does not offer concrete work. However, we highly recommend that our customers go visit their local building departments. They will tell you what their regulations are for a building and/or a slab or foundation. These codes may not be the same for everyone in one county or even everyone in one city.

Hexagonal Barn in New Mexico

Do you have any drawings? No problem—our engineering department will take care of turning your drawings into a unique design.

 

 

Take, for example, this incredible building with a hexagonal roof and a lean-to. Our customer didn’t mention what the structure would be used for; however, the unit can be used as a barn to store farm equipment, hay, and animal feed.

The structure was made with 12-gauge tubing, which automatically gives the building a 20-year warranty on rust-through of the framing. In addition, the hexagonal roof is in vertical style; this kind of roofing is the most recommendable when it comes to maintenance. Because the sheets are placed vertically, water, snow, leaves, or dirt will run-off very easily without the need of a constant care.

 

This kind of vertical style on a horizontal roof makes the structure a unique American Steel Carports feature.

Steel Wide Span Buildings

American Steel Carport’s is constantly pushing steel buildings to the next level—but did you know that American Steel Carports has the skills and manpower to build industrial-sized steel wide buildings? Our industrial-sized steel wide buildings are standard-built in widths of between 32-40 ft. and lengths of up to 50 ft. However, our steel wide span units can be built up to an impressive 80 ft. wide and a sky-scraping 20 ft. in leg height, most often requiring the use of machinery.* If that wasn’t impressive enough, our wide spans can be made to meet almost any length specifications. In addition, from our experiences with installing large units, customers who purchase wide span buildings will most likely be required to obtain construction permits. Although American Steel Carports leaves the responsibility of contacting their local code enforcement to its customers, our company will make it easy for you to obtain a copy of the generic plans or certified blueprints of your structure.**
